Happy Thursday,
I hope you’re having a great week!
My goal in life has always been to transform everything I do into graduate school. Latest goal: to watch all of BFI’s 250 Greatest Films of All Time — in order, of course, not that I’m OCD or anything. (And not that I don’t also love watching Ryan Gosling sing “I’m Just Ken” 20 times a day, too! I’m not heartless; just nerdy.)
If you’d like to let me know what you’re watching, I’d love to hear from you. Just reply to this message.
Write Better, Easier, Faster
1 quote, 1 stat, 1 tip & 1 tool for your writing process
1. Stat
If you’ll break your writing up into 3 steps — prewriting, rewriting, freewriting — you’ll write better copy in less time and enjoy it more, according to Richard Andersen, author of Writing That Works.
2. Quote
“Writing is easy. All you have to do is sit down at a typewriter and wait for drops of blood to form on your forehead.” — Gene Fowler, American journalist, author and dramatist.
3. Tip
Is writing too hard? Instead of trying to do everything at once, try taking writing step by step. (Or Bird by Bird, for Anne Lamott fans.)
- Prewriting, where you get ready to write — conduct your research, find your story angle and organize your ideas.
- Freewriting, where you write it down. Get words on paper so you can revise them in the next step.
- Rewriting, where you polish your final product.
4. Tool
