Plus: the 3-sentence email rule
Three data points have crossed my desk this week:
- 95% of the members of one organization said that if an email is more than 3 sentences, they’ll save it to read later. Like there’s a later! Can you get your message across in a 3-sentence brand email?
- The average attention span today is 47 seconds, according to Gloria Mark’s research at the University of California Irvine. Can you get the word out in a 150-word email newsletter?
- The word of the year is authentic, Webster’s tells us. Do your brand emails sound like a human wrote them — or like ChatGPT spit them out?
Want to write emails that get read?
Make them short, sharp and authentic.
